


Sims Snowboards - Taking an established brand to new heights
Sims Snowboards expressed interest in refreshing their brand on two levels: by developing a new identity, and producing a full season of snowboard artwork. The challenge was in designing a body of work that would communicate as a family of elements yet distinct enough for each board to appeal to different ages, ability and experience levels, and rider types.
The company identity was developed in collaboration with Mike Kelar. Custom letterforms were designed for the company logotype accompanied by an illustrated “S” logo loosely referring to the line a rider makes carving down a hill. Notes and illustrations from personal notebooks were requested by the client for printing on their elite pro board model “The Protocol”.
A fresh brand update was developed for a year’s worth of product offerings, including a season’s complete line of board artwork.
