





FirstLight - Capturing the flash of inspiration in a brand
FirstLight, an online stock photography agency, represents over 200 professional photographers. Providing materials for creative industries, the company required a brand refresh in order to retain its stature as the most extensive collection of Canadian content. The challenge for the project was in developing a brand identity for an agency representing the work of a large body of professional photographers, each with their own distinct body of work.
In order to deliver a mark that was relevant to the industry, a metaphor was developed that encapsulated the creativity, inspiration, and magnitude of quality photography. The flash of the camera (and flash of inspiration) represented by an asterisk as the dot of the letter “i”, overpowers and obscures the lower portion of the letterform.
A clean, friendly, and conceptual brand identity was crafted that has retained its currency over time, upholding the values and passion embodied by the FirstLight team.
