Revere - An identity bringing people and ideas together
Revere is a note-taking app that provides customers the ability to record thoughts, make to-do lists, set reminders, and jot down information quickly and easily while on the go. The product easily allows scheduling birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, or tasks for any day of the year. The building of stronger relationships and first impressions are at the heart of the product, providing simple tech in an effort to enable social connectivity and improved empathy.
The Revere app required an identity, and while some basic elements had been established such as colour and screen layout, a more formal system was still needed around which to build a brand. Work upon a product identifier began, in which various concepts and visual aesthetics were explored. The final identifier was developed around a concept of connection. As with a link in a chain, pieces are interwoven to create a complex and very strong structure. This became a symbol of connection, of how people and ideas are interwoven into a complex web of community relations. These interlocking forms that create a bond became the final logo for the app, from which the story behind the product could begin to be told.
Secondary and tertiary colours were integrated into the visual identity, as well as gradients of the system of colours. The logo was designed within a system of elements, hierarchies, and use cases. The primary blue was designated for use within the product, while secondary and tertiary shades of yellow and red would be integrated into communication materials as they were developed for advertising, marketing, and b2b communications. As the identifier was developed with a strong mono-stroke thickness to create the interlocking forms, a system of symbols was developed to help synchronize the visual forms into a cohesive whole.
The logo development process was a rigorous exploration into multiple directions, concepts, and visual treatments. The final result has been applied to the recently released app while also being featured on the product marketing site.
